State-Guaranteed Legal Aid
Asylum seekers living in their chosen location may apply to the Reception and Integration Agency for state-guaranteed legal aid.
What kind of aid is provided?
Primary legal aid:
- provision of legal information about rights and obligations and consequences of failure to comply during the asylum application process, as well as information related to the examination of the application (if such information has not yet been provided)
- legal consultation on matters related to detention or the imposition or extension of alternatives to detention. A foreigner may receive no more than two consultations on the same issue, each lasting no longer than one hour;
- preparation and submission of documents intended for state and municipal institutions and agencies. This service is provided when the submission of such a document is necessary for the foreigner to exercise rights granted by legal acts, and the foreigner is unable to prepare and submit it independently;
- participation in and representation of the foreigner during interviews with the Migration Department under the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Lithuania (provided only by the designated service provider).
Secondary legal aid:
- preparation of complaints and procedural documents for the court in cases provided for by legal acts.
- representation in court in cases provided for by legal acts.
