Ordering Translation Services in the System "VERTIS"

The Reception and Integration Agency has developed and implemented an information system for managing translation services—VERTIS. This system is available to both government agencies, municipalities, non-governmental organizations and their representatives, as well as to third-country nationals and stateless persons themselves. Interpretation services are provided at various institutions to ensure direct communication or to convey information related to asylum and integration procedures, as well as to ensure the protection of human rights (e.g., when victims of gender-based violence seek assistance at specialized comprehensive support centres). The services are available in more than 40 languages.

The following types of translation services are provided:

• Interpretation: from/into Lithuanian, sign language (subject to separate agreement), in person or remotely.
• Written translation: translation of documents (e.g., personal documents, medical records, court documents).

General interpretation services include assignments related to asylum and integration procedures. These services are provided at the following institutions:

• the Migration Department;
• the courts (when cases related to immigration proceedings are being heard);
• educational institutions;
• the Employment Service;
• health care facilities;
• municipalities;
• the Foreigners’ Registration Centre.

The following personal documents are available for written translation:

• identity documents;
• birth certificate;
• marriage certificate;
• divorce documents;
• guardianship documents;
• death certificate;
• documents certifying education;
• licenses or other documents certifying qualifications;
• medical records;
• court procedural documents;
• documents related to asylum proceedings.
